any valid non-profit organisation within South Africa.

Who are we?
We are a group who provide non-profit web services on behalf of other non-profit organisations within South Africa.
Why do we do it?
Many service providers charge even non-profit organisations to host & set up domain names, host websites and email redirection. We at KLEVA feel that these organisations need the same exposure to the internet world but should not have to spend their donated money just to be visible (in a lot of cases this is public money and cannot be spent this way anyway).
So who pays?
Kevin Caine (the founder of KLEVA) pays for most of the running costs (equipment, maintenence, Telkom costs, etc) out of his own pocket, but has also arranged server hosting with Integrated Technologies in KZN (who host a backup server on their premises at no cost).
Why haven't I heard of KLEVA before?
KLEVA does not actively advertise it's services. Although we appear on all major search engines, advertising costs money in most cases. We have however been around since 1996 (over 10 years now).
If it's free, how reliable is it?
We don't have the latest and greatest equipment, but our up-time is as good as any 3rd tier provider in South Africa. We have battery backup equipment, manual generators (can't afford those expensive automatic ones right now), duplicated DNS servers (2 in South Africa & 1 International), etc. Our downtime in 2006 was higher than expected (39 Hours - not consecutive) and mostly due to extensive power failures.
Are you the best?
Not by a long shot! We offer a free service and you get what you pay for (or we will refund you your money, every cent you spent). Seriously though, there are much better providers out there, but they are likely to charge. We are here for those that cannot find someone to host their websites free.
Will you design our website?
No, we will host it. Web design is time-consuming and we all have full-time jobs so cannot take this on as well. We will be happy to give advice though if you want.
Do you put advertising on our website?
No. You are welcome to place a link on your website to this website or to place a link to Integrated Technologies who host one of our backup servers, but this is at your own discression and is not compulsory.
Do you provide Internet Access accounts (via dial-up, ADSL, etc)?
No, we do not have the infrastructure to support this type of connectivity (due to cost). We can recommend numerous service providers in South Africa, especially Integrated Technologies whom many of us use in our personal capacities.
Will you register/transfer our Domain Names?
Yes, we know that this is a technical task that few people understand. If it is a chargeable request through your existing provider then this cost will be for your own account and we will assist with the paperwork. Alternately we will register a .za.net or .za.org domain name free of charge on your behalf.
Will you give us email accounts?
Only in exceptional circumstances. We will redirect any number of email addresses on your domain to any external address (eg: bob at yourdomain.za.org will be sent to bobsmith at ispdomain.co.za).
Can I use special sevices eg: FrontPage, ASP, SQL, Perl, etc?
We discuss the use of such with each organisation induvidually. Feel free to ask your requirements and we will let you know what is possible. We currently support various sites with various needs including those above. For example, we do not use Frontpage extensions on our sites, but you will still be able to use Frontpage to design your site, we will assist and advise where certain features need changing.
Can I donate money for these services?
Thanks, but no. KLEVA would then be obliged to register for tax and have to be audited in terms of South African laws. This would also invalidate our verbal agreement with Integrated Technologies. We would however be extrememly grateful for your time (to assist others) or any redundant equipment you have available (eg: Servers, UPS's, Generators, Hard Drives, etc) that we can use.
Will you host a private or test website for individuals?
No, these services are for registered/valid non-profit organisations. Personal sites and individual testing sites are NOT permitted.
Will you host a commercial enterprise if they paid you?
No, whilst there are a few commercials that we host free, these are only because they have supported KLEVA through donated equipment and are extremely limited in their functionality (ie: 1 page display, 500k space, 1 domain name, 1 email address). So as you can see they would get even less than the free service available.
What limits are there?
We limit the website space to 2Mb (up to 5Mb max if we see that there will not be abuse of the space) and redirected email cannot be larger than 2Mb per email. Although we don't put a restriction on the number of sites and domains that can be hosted by an organisation, they all have to be used for non-profit purposes. All limits are flexible and are completely at our discretion.
